Today, March 26th is Purple Day. A day near and dear to my heart. You see my Rolo didn’t develop Epilepsy over time with us. We adopted him knowing that we were going to be taking care of a special needs dog for the rest of his life and I was okay with that. There has been many many ups and now that he is getting older there is many many downs but you know what, we get through them and I wouldn’t ever reconsider our decision to adopt him. He has brightened my life and changed it in so many ways! If you EVER are thinking about adopting an EPI pup of you just want someone to talk to, please feel free to reach out to me personally —> email@example.com
Purple Day is a day dedicated to raise awareness about epilepsy but you know what, it really is PURPLE DAY everyday in our house. People in countries around the world are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness. Did you know that this day was founded by a young Canadian girl named Cassidy Megan in 2008. Thank you Cassidy, If I ever get the chance to meet you.. I just want to give you a big hug.
“Seizures are the result of muscle responses to an abnormal nerve-signal burst from the brain. They are a symptom of an underlying neurological dysfunction. Toxic Substances, metabolic or electrolyte abnormalities and/or imbalances cause an uncoordinated firing of neurons in the cerebrum of the brain, creating seizures from mild to severe” (Quote Credit: http://www.canine-epilepsy.com/overview.html).
We have teamed up with our friends at Fivesibes and Knotty toys for Good dogs to bring you another great online Facebook event. Please head on over and post all of your “PURPLE” photos on the wall, we would love to see them!
